Dariga devoted the next few years to work in the media: the daughter of Nursultan Nazarbayev headed the organization "Television and Radio of Kazakhstan", and was also the director of a news agency called "Khabar" (until 1998). Then, until 2001, she was a member of the management and board of directors of the same agency.
In 2004, a woman, who had previously only been interested in politics, decided to try her own hand and presented a candidacy for the election of deputies of parliament. Dariga Nursultanovna managed to take this post, and until 2007 she was a deputy of the Mazhilis from a political party called Asar.
In 2007, Dariga Nazarbayeva headed the public organization "Fund of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan". Several years later, in 2012, she was again elected as a deputy of the Mazhilis (as the lower house of parliament is called in Kazakhstan). In addition, the woman received the post of chairman of the committee responsible for the social and cultural development of Kazakhstan.

A year later, Nazarbayeva became the leader in the rating of the most influential women in Kazakhstan according to the Internet media Vlast.kz. At the same time, some phrases of the politician often caused heated debates in society. Dariga spoke ambiguously about the effectiveness of the ongoing reforms in education, called for educational work with adolescents in the moral and sexual sphere to conduct excursions to boarding schools for disabled children.
The career of a purposeful and strong-willed woman was steadily going uphill: already in 2014, Dariga Nursultanovna was elected deputy chairman of the majilis, as well as the leader of the Nur Otan faction. And a year later, in 2015, the politician took the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the country.
Over the years of political and public work, Dariga Nazarbayeva was awarded various orders and medals of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In November 2017, a photo of the woman again appeared on the front pages of news publications: she was elected chairman of the council in the field of activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This was reported by representatives of the press service of the department. The politician replaced Byrganym Aitimova, who previously held this responsible post.
Dariga Nazarbayeva devoted her first speech at the council meeting to the problems of the department, stressing that her primary task was to ensure direct communication and cooperation between the state authorities and society. In her new position, Dariga oversaw the implementation of the One Belt, One Road program, which represents more than 50 Kazakh-Chinese investment projects totaling more than $ 27.4 billion.

Major news about Nazarbayeva's life and political career is widely covered in the media. The politician does not use social networks or instant messengers in his work. Dariga does not have a personal Instagram.
Dariga has an independent political will, which she often demonstrates in her speeches. After her father announced in early 2018 that the entire state apparatus should switch to Kazakh, the woman spoke up in defense of the Russian language. She reassured the journalists that “no one has canceled the Russian language yet,” and most likely this will not happen in the near future. Nazarbayeva also called for interethnic harmony. Nevertheless, an increasing number of citizens of Kazakhstan are actively enrolling in the state language courses.
