| Info | Christopher A. Coons As County Executive, Chris has successfully guided New Castle County through the deepest economic downturn in generations. He's cut millions in wasteful spending and restored fiscal responsibility to county government, while creating innovative solutions including the Office of Redevelopment and the Problem Properties Task Force, removing dangerous parole violators from our neighborhoods, and giving police the tools they needed to reduce crime by 12 percent. Chris grew up in Hockessin, and now lives in Wilmington with his wife, Annie, and their three children, Michael, Jack and Maggie. Chris is a graduate of Amherst College with a B.A. in Chemistry and Political Science, and earned his law degree from Yale Law School and a Master's in Ethics from Yale Divinity School. Chris also studied at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. Prior to serving as County Executive, Chris worked as an attorney for Delaware-based W.L. Gore & Associates, one of the 200 largest privately-held companies in the U.S., where he helped the company expand and create hundreds of jobs. He has also worked with several non-profits, including the National Coalition for the Homeless, the education-oriented "I Have a Dream" Foundation, and the Investor Responsibility Research Center.
